I just put in the 360 in my wagoneer it is a 1990 360 going in a 1989 wagoneer. Everything bolts up except when I try to put the 4 bolts in the torque converter when we get a bolt in and turn it, it does not line up with next bolt and trying to turn torque con or flex it bangs against something and will not continue HELP!!

You should have the 727 torqueflite transmission. If you do the bolt pattern is staggered and has to be lined up properly to bolt up. You will have to install one bolt, turn engine to check the rest until you find the right combination. I always painted one bolt and the convertor before removal when I was working in a shop so I could just line back up when re-installing.

I am doing an engine swap and left used the flex plate on the new engine assuming they were the same. The plate on the engine I removed has four bolt holes(actually 8, one on top of another. Like an idiot I did not bother to see if they were the same. You would think they would be. Now what... pull the **** thing back out? Thank you for your imput

loosen the block to trans bolts almost all the way out use 2 screwdrivers one on each side of the bellhousing to spread the trans and bellhousing apart so you can spin the converter a bolt at a time install a bolt then turn the engine 1 complete turn while you install all the bolts do this until you get the flywheel lined up
