what is the correct way to remove the tube from the intake i need to reuse on my edelbrock i just bought?

i found a large socket that just fit inside the tube, shoved it down there, and clamped it with a large c-clamp. then i tapped the clamp on each side till it popped out. no dents!

Shoot the bottom with some PB and wiggle it a little bit. Might also try taping gently with a soft hammer. Mine came right out......phil
