Anybody know the biggest size tires I can fit under my jeep without a lift kit? It had mixed sizes on it when I bought it (31's in the back and 15's up front) truck sits kind of low with the tires I have on it now would like a higher profile but dont have money for a lift kit right now, and Im not going to "redneck it" (bricks)

Ya have to have the same size tires on all wheels.
31 is the diameter of the tire and 15 is the diameter of the wheel.Take another look.Get all the numbers in the"size" Should say something like 31x10.50R15

I assume that mentioning the "15's" you meant that the front tires are of a metric designation---p/235/75/15-----and the rears are a inch designation like--31x10.50x15. Like was mentioned early in the posts, Its very important to have the same size tires front and rear. Even having the same size tires but of different brands can sometimes cause a problem with 4x4's. I just purchased a set of TOYO open country 30x9.50x15's for my 85wag and think they look real nice. I also fabricated a set of 1" 1/2 block's to level/raise the rear of the wag. It now rides slighty higher in the back 1/2", which levels out nicely with the tounge weight of my travel trailor. Tony

I was going to raise my wag 4" so I could run 33's. I see the smallest rim listed in the 'tire link' above for a 33 as 8". Can you use a 7" rim? How can I tell what width rim I now have?

Measure across were the tire beads seal for the width of the rim.
BFG makes a 33x9.50x15 that should work on 7" or an 8" rim and a 4" lift... maybe a small trim.. CUL.. ;) ds..

Up to 10.5" wide tires will work on a 7" rim. I've got some 31x10.5" tires on my Wrangler's stock 15x7 rims and they look real nice. Plus when I air down to 10-15psi I have little worry of rolling the bead off.

the front tires were 235/75/15 the rear were 31x10.5 maybe I should have specified last night right now I have 235/75/15's all around didnt mean to sound uneducated about tires (used to be a tire tech in ohio)I was just unsure about the biggest tires that would fit under my truck without a lift or a sawzall
Fit a set of 235/75/15's on my 90 buick lesabre without a sawzall just a right angle grinder!!

Hey I am running 33x12.5x15 BFGs on my W/t. All I have is a 2 inch body lift. As you can see from my post in the General Section under "I think she is maxxed", my tires did not rub any at all and I was trying real hard to see if they would.

I guess you can gather from my post which you replied to that 33's are safe. Like I said, I've never had trouble with the 33's. My only doubt is that the trails I ride don't have real difficult obstacles. Lotsa steep up and down and low river crossings. I'm not sure what would happen if I had a boulder under my driver front and a boulder under my passenger rear.
