I just bought a 401 from someone that was fresh out of the machine shop with new heads. My problem is the casting numbers on each head are different one is a 3216090-1 and the other is a 3233344-1. The first number uses Chevy arms and the second uses AMC arms. Will there be a problem using two different heads on the same motor? Any help would be great!

Fourtrax, try asking on an AMC board. Those guys are diehard AMCer's, they' probably know the answer, or point you in the right direction.

They could both be 401 heads, early and late.
The one that "looks" like it takes Chevy rockers is an older (pre-74) head that uses the AMC rockers that LOOK like chevy (but are different in a few ways and are 1.6 ratio).
The other head is probably a '74 or later that uses the non-adjustable boss mount style rocker. Both are useable, the adjustable rocker one is PREFERABLE (no having to shim the **** thing).
