Got some digital pics of my "Longhorn Bumper" that I had made up several years ago.

Thought that some might enjoy seeing the images.

I think that Yahoo will allow folks to view the above link.

Well I do not have a Yahoo Id, and it says

"The File You Are Looking For Is Inaccessible.

Please sign in and try again or check with the owner of the file." So maybe Yahoo People can see it. Just not Non Yahoo People :(

Well, I went and edited the permissions, so all should have access to it now...

Hey I think that looks a lot better than some of the stuff "real" off road stores are selling these days! Very nice and original looking.

Yea I like that. I would like to se it from the front (to see how it mounts) I've been toying with the idea of makeing my own bumper and been studying lots of pics to try and get some good ideas. Looks good man!

Very nice, I see you overcame the tailgate lowering thing and still kept a good look, great job.

I can put up pictures of the mounting, we just used some thick steel plate material and welded it to the frame on both sides and the middle.

I get some photos up of the mounting.

The idea came from the Longhorn cattle that we admire so much here in Texas, went down to the metal scrap yard in Austin, Texas and found some 3/16" thick metal pipe, and then told the welding dude what I wanted. He was skeptical at first, but even he said he really like the way it ended up.

The D-Shackles are 40,000-lb rated, so no worry there.

Been looking for some back-up lights to mount on the triangle trim between the hitch and the bumper tubes.

That's a good looking bumper Joe. Looks like it'd be a good air tank too for OBA.
But I can already feel the pain in my shin and the blood running into my socks from the receiver. I think I would have made the receiver part an innie rather than an outtie. ;)

So that is the main reason for the "outtie".

This is not as much a problem as it might seem, as the ball hits me right a knee cap level...Ouch!

nice looking indeed. I imagine there is a quick learning curve for avoiding the 'outtie'.

Looks like if a ricer were to under estimate the distance from that hitch, you could do some really cool fab work to his hood! :D :D

I LOVE that design! Bit complex for my own design fab experience, but WOW... if I had the time and technique, I'd make one real similar!

1st go find some pipe at a recycle yard and have them cut to specs.

2nd fit cardboard to pattern for diamond plate and take cardboard to folks who supply diamond plate and have them cut it to specs.

Gather up all components and take to welder to put together.

Three days of playing around got it done for me, and that was in Austin Texas, not exactly bubba-ville.

It attaches just behind the D-Rings to the frame for strength and the center is also welded to the frame rear crossmember at the receiver hitch.
