Removing C/C switch

Can anyone tell me any easy way to remove the C/C switch that's mounted on the turn blinker handle of my '84 GW. I thought that maybe the handle was just threaded into the column innards but it appears on closer examination that it's a pull the wheel type of job. Any suggestions on how to safely and easily remove the switch or the handle would be greatly appreciated.

I just got into the column of my 79. Indeed, I had to pull the wheel and lock plate to get to it. I found a replacement stalk at NAPA
