Ha, Such an easy name yet such a hard part to find(new). Here in Pa No aftermarket parts store/supplier offers that plastic spacer. I was told by everysingle parts store to check the dealer. Well, The dealer said they could get it but it was some stupid price and waiting time. So I just did the logical thing. Got a holley carb and used an aluminum spacer. Oh yeah and if you want, I have a used good spacer(just lying around)Got it off my J-10 when I replaced that carb.

My understanding is that it is an integral component that provides insulation between the carb and the heat from the engine. When my unit would not smog here in Denver, I went to the referee and he did a complete analysis, including that component and explained that a broken or missing insulator can and will cause the unit to improperly smog. No idea really about the details.

If you want to sound cool, you can call it a phenolic block. Its basically an insulator from the heat of the engine (as Ernzo pointed out).

I agree with PC, though. Call it a carb spacer or you'll confuse the parts-store-droid. :D

I wish you guys would come to my store. I work at an Autozone. I know that there are some real blockheads that don't even know where the parts BOOKS are located, but I try to help every customer. It becomes really hard though when some guy wants you to tell him every step involved in replacing a timing belt on his Geo Metro. I don't care for Geos, But I have been known to go the extra mile for anything with the word Jeep on it. :D
It's nice when I can really help a fellow Jeeper and not sell "Dash Trash" to the Honda crowd!
Okay, I'm off my soapbox.

When I was running a 2150 carb (many moons ago :D ) I went into Checkers and ask for a new spacer and they had it. It is the same spacer used on f*rds with a 2100 series carb.

Last carb rebuild kit I bought came with one... T'was in a blue box, came from bumper to bumper (name escapes me now, think it started with an H)

I just had to replace my craked spacer and checked: autozone, pep boys, advance auto and a local store with no luck. I finally had to go to the dealer I believe it was approx. $12.

What carb do you have? If it's the 4bbl motorcraft, Jeep used their own plastc spacer. No parts store could get it for me and I used a thick gasket until one finally showed up in the junkyard. Ford has a version, but it's way different.

You only need a gasket for the spacer not the spacer right? I replaced my carb last week so that makes me an expert, (JK)!

I made 3 trips trying to get the right combo for my Holley. I ended up doing away with the spacer and just used an open bore adapter instead.

For me, Kragen & Auto Zone did not have the gasket you are looking for but NAPA did. I just decided not to use it because I was still going to have to use the adapter too which was making my air cleaner too close to the hood.

If no luck yet, give NAPA a try. Be sure to take the spacer in with you so they get it right the first time.

The rebuild kit Shake n Bake is talking about is made by High Grade. That's the same one I used last. Very good kit but it costs around 50 bones.
