I have asked on here several times about swapping in a newer Chevy truck drivetrain but after see what the reall cost was it is just going to eat too much of my budget for the Wagon. Today I ordered BJ's 4" lift and a few days ago I got a complete TBI setup from an 89 Chevy truck. So my question is about adapting the TBI setup to my Grand Wagoneer. Would I benefit from the performer EGR manifold or should I just stick with the stock 2bbl manifold since the TBI is 2bbl. Also has anyone passed an IM-240 emissions test with an aftermarket cam (thinking about the crane 260)? I hope figuring out the wiring harness isn't too hard. I still have to get an in-line fuel pump and figure out how to let the ECM control the stock distributor. I wonder how the 360 will run on the stock 350 chip. I do have a eprom burner and a copy of diacom but getting things right if they are off will take a lot of work. Anyone have any tips on installation?

i think that you would be better of with an aluminum intake. it is lighter and will dissipate heat much better. the 2bbl intake does not flow to bad but you would lighten up the front end a bit and pick up performance.

It is actually easier to adapt the GM TBIs to a 4bbl intake. The adapters are readily available from Holley (through Summit or Jegs). I haven't seen an adapter for a 2bbl, but they probably do exist. Plus, the 4bbl will give better performance over the factory 2bbl. You may want to consider a Performer RPM intake.
As for getting it running, go to www.customefis.com (http://www.customefis.com) and buy his DIY manual. It shows you how to modify your distributor, plus it gets into how to tune the TBI systems. It is definitely worth the money.
Another good source for EFI info is www.diy-efi.org (http://www.diy-efi.org.) -they have been having site trouble so they may not be up all the time.

I can build you a GM HEI for it, that is EMC controlled.

I will try to document everything for others. So far I have spent a few days researching TBI setups over the net. The DIY manual was already on order and should be here any day. My biggest hurdle so far looks like it may be in the chip tuning. But I am getting a laptop and a version of WINALDL to fix that. I would like to swap in a little hotter cam than stock but I am looking for one that will give me the least amount of hassle with the TBI and yet give decent gains. Ted I have sent you an e-mail.
