My 90 GW (all stock) with new battery, new alternator, and clean connections is still not charging properly.
On a charged battery, truck will
start and run fine, then voltmeter starts
to drop steadily as the engine runs the battery down and finally stalls . Any good ideas as I continue my journey of trial and error???

Sounds like it's not charging (call me Sherlock!!). What voltage does the gauge show with a fully charged battery? Have you checked the voltage at the battery with a meter will the engine is running? Should show high 13/low 14 volts. Make sure to check the ground connections. Did you have the same symptoms before you replaced those things?
Check for voltage at the red wire that is with the brown wire at the connector. If you did not hvae voltage there you may have a fusable link that is no good.

You should have two wires that originate from the alternator. Make sure that the red wire is attached correctly to the red + battery wire at the starting solenoid.

Did you replace the altenator plug?

Good luck!

Recheck the alternator The one I got(REBUILD)
was not charging properly and I had to rap the engine every time it started to get the thing to charge. Wifey would jump in and drive away and run the battery down every time.

Thanks for the tips. i'll take a closer
look at connections etc.
in answer to questions:
-same symptoms existed before new parts
-voltmeter only reads about 9/10V with
charged battery
-belt tension is good.
