Hey right down the road!! :D Well as far as the lift kits, try Uncle Emu's, and 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers, I think there's one in Dallas. Rusty's 4" lift has had a good thread throughout this site and most are very pleased with the results from what I've read.

The enigne is another topic all together. What is it? If it's a 360 AMC, the price goes up for anything. Take the basic Chebby part and add about $20 to everything unless its the whole kit then add $120. CHeck the Tech section of this site to find out how do do things and what to look for on your new toy.

It sounds like you are in the same boat as I was about six months ago when I picked mine up for $800. It ran, but looked like He--you know the rest!! I went through the whole motor, JC Whitney and a local race shop, and she purrs like a kitty. The body was a little rought but straight and took a month before I dropped a $200 paint job in the garage on it. The fender flairs took a week long battle for information, prices, and where to get them. I found that Raybucks has the best prices, quality and fit for anything around the body.

If your looking to do most of the work yourself, and we all do on this site and won't settle until it's perfect, you'll come along fine. Drop this site a line any time there's a problem and you'll get more than you expect. I sure have so far!!! :D :D :D

Howdy and welcome to the club. There's lots of us in the DFW area.

If you're looking for new parts, there's a 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers off spur 580 near the west side of loop 820. I heard that they may be doing free install on Skyjacker lifts (a complete 4" lift is available from them) but I'll have to call my buddy down there to confirm.

Many of us are becoming experts on the 360 and can probably help you out with just about anything. I have an engine crane and stand if you're that ambitious. smile.gif

We're planning a road trip to Barnwell Mountain in Gilmer towards the end of the month. You're welcome to come along if you like. Check it out in the Events section.

Best bang for the buck is definately a Rusty's kit. For the cheapest prices give Jeremy a call at www.crawltech.com (http://www.crawltech.com) he will beat anyones price!!

Ditto on what they said, I am in Ft. Worth too. I am waiting on some rear springs for my recently SOA'd front on my J10!!!!! 4 wheel parts is doing a free install on their Skyjacker kits, as long as its not a Rockready (only for TJ/XJs, so youre safe). Im not sure about the ride and flex quality though, had BAD luck with my Toy rears. We should arrange a local getogether, at my house so we can finish my junk, HEE HEE!! :D

I have contacted a few dealers and so far I have come up with a high dollorest...Can a ring and pinion be done by the shade tree???? I am trying to pick a good limited slip (would prefer a gear driven)...Until the rear is remidied then the green thang is in dry dock... :( ....

The best limited slip is a powerlock, but I wouldnt waste my money on one, get a detroit, the action is so smooth you wont even notice but on rare occasions and with abrupt throttle movement. I put one in front and in back of whatis going to be my daily driver. I have them back and front in my Toyota and drove it daily for 2 years, no probs!!!! I have never had the guts to set a gear pattern, it has to be just right, or at the very least it will wear incorrectly and not last ( a buddy of mine had his done wrong, lasted 2 days!!). There are special dial mikes and such for this, so I pay someone (Sunray Engineering)

Good one Fireman! I will be calling you today?!!!

My rig is off to the tranny shop this weekend. I will fill you in on the details this afternoon Fireman. Gurrrrrrr. If it is not one thing it is another.

Jslamer-would love to hook up. Maybe we can do it in a couple of weeks.

82...The S&H guys do good rear end jobs. Remounting ring & pinion "should" be done on the bench and kept very clean. Last I heard the labor was 'bout $250.oo. I didn't have to reset my Ring and pinion when I installed a Tru-Trac mechanical LSD.
FSJ VIDEO PARTYTIME  Three of the top 10 Colorado Trails...34 Mountain Passes. ...Ouray....Chips & dips ......Dancing Gir..........oooops  WOW! Doris would make my hair wavey   ..........ds..

Carl .. We need some "old head" member to produce a list of "approved" abbreviations because some MAY be abhorent   Each hobby has its own little time savers. SOA..I've been called this.... but here it means Spring Over Axle. I guess PM...Private Mail is most important 'cause you can PM a guy to find out what he's talking about.. :D ........ ;) ...ds..

Hey guys well you got another "West" Texas FSJer here. I just bought mine this morning! 83 Wagoneer, 360 loaded, looks like a 2 inch AAL/block lift, 31X10.50's etc...It is set up with a SB Chevy TBI unit and runs pretty impressive. Wooo Hooo always wanted one, so I bought one to use as a daily driver/light trail rig...I have an 85 CJ-7 that is my trail toy. There are creature comforts that CJ's will never have hence the FSJ. I am looking forward to doing some hanging out with some FSJers in the Arlington/FtW area. I have a fairly well set up garage, and plenty of crap to work on. Let me know when you guys are getting together, cause this is a whole different breed of Jeep for me.
Thanks

Actually I am closer to FtW than Arlington, right off of 20 just west an exit or two from Pantego/Dalworthington Gardens...I-20 and Kelly Elliot, I have about two more weeks of working weekends, then I am back to wheeling! We are getting ready for the Southern Off-Road Adventure Rally (SOAR) sponsered by Baer-Trax next weekend, then after that I want to get that Wagon out and see what she will do.
Looking forward to meeting you guys.
