OK, this is just something i am wanting to make, and was wondering if anyone had any ideas for me. I originally wanted to just use some sort of a timing circuit that would trigger a coil and sparkplug, but i am wondering where i could get a cheap timing circuit that can handle the kind of amps a coil needs, so i decided i would just attach a motor to the end of an old points dizzy and have a coil etc hooked up and 2 sparkplugs, one in each tailpipe. Let me know if ya know about timing circuits, or any ideas/problems you see with it. Thanks.

You got dual straight pipes hangin out the back?

Because if you don't, then what will the guy in the car next to you say when you light his tire on fire? ;) :D

yah, dual straights, but they're on the side.

not really planning to do it with vehicles nearby though smile.gif

I didn't figure you would. But the picture of some dude's tire lighting up and him wondering what that smell was kinda made me laugh.

A spark plug in the tailpipe, and a voltage source is what the kids back in the 50's and 60's used to do.

Just be careful you don't light your own Jeep in the process!!

74 Wag ..Try using an old style turn-signal flasher firing a coil. The large real old style turn-signal flashing speed could be increased by bending the little “bi-metal “ piece .. The one I used the “bi-metal “ piece was copper colored. We would also install a hand choke. If you do this today in some states they will put you so far back in jail the only food you will get would be shot to you with a bean shooter..  .. CUL..

Mine would do it because the float in the carb was set too high and the mixture was way too rich. Dad fixed it and now no more flames, darn it. I use to scare the heck out of people with the three foot flame it would shoot out. I would let off the gas and coast and when I put my foot back on the gas,,, BOOM. I want to do what you are wanting to do but I hear it is illegal now days. Good luck.

Great idea Don S, that might just work, i will have to go lookin for one. I do have a hand choke already. I figure some people might not appreciate it much, but i will just try to use some common sense. Montana is pretty leanient about stuff, except tires sticking out past fenders/no mudflaps, and jaywalking (they go after all us high school kids).

dont know about where you live but it is looked down upon here in tx and in lousyiana it is against the law. ex bro in law had some on his mustang and we used to get tickets every time he would fire his pipes off.

In the drawing, where is the switch (to turn the flasher on and off) and what is the condensor for? Sorry, I aint too 'lectercly inclined...

no switch in the picture, sorry i will have to add that, but the condenser would hopefully prevent arcing in the flasher similar to in a breaker point ignition. I am not exactly a genius with electronics either.

Please do this and take some pics. I've been wanting to do this for years, I'm just waiting to aquire the right car for the job. I remember seeing an old Merc when I was a kid throwing flames and I was hooked. When you get this hooked up go hang out at a "mini" show and toast some rice.
