I have a 6 lug 44 that was supposed to have come out of a fullsize Waggy.....only problem is, check out the production date!

Can anyone help ID what I've got and where I'm likely to get parts? It's a 6 lug LP 44, drivers side drop, a little over 60" WMS to WMS.

Thank you very much.

Can you find the BOM on the axle? It should similar to the production date on the other side of the pumpkin.

Once you get the BOM go to the Dana Expert Site:

Yeah,

The BOM was 610090-2.

It comes up as a front 44 Wagoneer/Cherokee.

But the date doesn't make any sense.....and as such I don't know how/where to get parts.....brake parts specificaly.

What year does it come up as?

In any case, all disc-braked FSJ front D44's used the same calipers, with a slight change in banjo-bolt dimensions in '79 or '80, so just order brakes and other parts for, say, an '83 Wagoneer.

Thanks, but I also need the hubs, and the only hub I've found is for '81-83 made by Aimco, part # 7502.

A friend of mine works at Dynatrac and really got me some good info based on the BOM, but I still don't know where to get the hubs, and for what year.

It comes up as a 1980 Standard rotation 44 out of a Wagoneer/ Cherokee. It came from the factory with a 3.31 gear ratio and an open diff.

The hubs should be internal style, non locking. The outer shaft should be 19 spline.

I'm trying to find out what differences, if any there were. It looks like my axle originally came without selectable hubs, but later had them added on.

I dunno, all this is new to me.

I have front and rear Waggy 44s I'm building up to go under my 2000 Wrangler. So, I'm pretty much ignorant when it comes to this "older" stuff, and I'm trying to learn what it is I need to know.

You mean the hubs themselves, onto which the rotor mounts, or the locking hubs?

You can pick up the hubs used; everybody here probably has a pair they can ship to you for cheap.

If you are talking about locking hubs, then you're looking at the most common locking-hub around, as it's the one that also works on all Chevy's as well as FSJ's. Even if it came with the full-time constant-drive slugs, it can be converted to locking hubs by just buying the hubs.

Yes,

The selectable hubs were frozen (all the allen head bolts) in place and had to be drilled out. The hub still would not come out, (yes, I got the clip) and so the madness ensued.

So, besides new calipers, rotors, pads, bearings and seals, I need the hubs, and the selectable hubs that bolt to them.....

Am I using the correct treminology?

My TJ has sealed unit bearings..... :D

Got ya!

That's pretty much it. There is also a bearing and seal inside the spindle, so that's three bearings total (two of which need races), two seals, one rotor, one caliper, two pads, one locking hub and a partidge in a pear tree on each side.

All of which, except for the hub, are available new for decent prices (even Autozone will carry Timken bearings and seals for these babies).

BTW, if you need the hubs, spindles, outer shafts, etc, I've got a lot of spares sitting around. PM me if you need any of those parts for good prices.

Thank you Bob, you've been most helpful.

Depending upon how destructive I've been in getting everything apart, I'm sure I'll need some replacements. :D
