i have a question and i dont know if anyone has any ideas but i would love to hear them, my '80 cherokee chief started stalling out about 3 weeks ago, just either driving along or even while stopped at an intersection, the magnetic pick up was what we thought the problem was so that got changed, well its still doing it, it will go great and then just DIE!! if anyone has any suggestion as to what i might should check i would appreciate it, we have already checked alot of things under the hood, but before we start tearing into him i would like some other input

check the fuel filter, possible ignition module on the fender, maybe the coil is going bad? think about the age of some of the parts and that may help.
I'd start with ignition module. I had the same problem with my 76 waggy. It would just die while I was driving and then it wouldn't start. But if you let it sit for a while then it would fire right up again. Good luck

Module, loose connection, bad ignition switch ...
Last time I went though that it was the module, seemed like every time it died,
it would be just fine by the time I opened the hood, and got the volt meter out.
So I just started swapping, module was the one that did the trick.

Another vote for the ig module. Been there...same symptoms on my '76 CJ-5 and my '81 Scrambler. Last one I bought was under $40.
