Hey folks!
Was working on the jeep today, had a question, and a request for comments!
First off, the drivers side window. Mine wouldn't roll up/down by the crank, so took the door apart, found the arm was actually rubbing the glass. That was easy enough to get back under, but I'm curious, shouldn't the arm be attached to the window somehow? It seems that there is just a spring, a washer that just 'roll' along the bottom of the glass. Its nice that I can at least roll the window up now, but its no fun having to push it back down, somehow that seems wrong... I greased up the tracks as best I could (that front one is a royal PAIN to grease! But that didn't help at all... Any suggestions?
Secondly, I'm working on building a Snorkel for my jeep. Here's my plan, 3" PVC (maybe Steel for the first part) I'm going to go through the inner fender (right above the shock tower, but as high up as humanly possible) then through the outer fender, to a 90, down the side of the fender, then up the A Pillar. I'm going to keep the OEM air cleaner, with modifications (lots of silicone, a bolt to replace the wing nut, and removal/welding up the heat exchanger) My real question lies at the top...
Should I put on the standard forward intake? It would seem that on the highway it should offer something of a Ram-Air effect. My concern with this setup, is that, on my last few trips into the bush, I've gotten more mud on my jeep following people, than I could ever put on myself, seems like that intake would probably toss some of that mud/water down my snorkel and almost defeat the purpose.
A friend suggested a Rearward intake to prevent that, I'm not sure that would be better...
Third thought is the 'Up over and down' style. More or less a 3" pipe with a cover on and above it.
So what do the techies here think? Is the ram-air worth the risk? (Of course I prefer the looks of the forward facing intake too...)
