I am planning on installing a hydroassist ram by tapping both cover plates on the steering gear and also would like to add hydroboost brake system in the future. Should I increase volume/pressure through end cap / spring of the gear box ?
Also, should I upgrade my pump as well?
And, how about a p/s cooler? Think it is needed?
Locked up front 50% mud, 50% asphalt.
Thanks,

Anybody done both these mods using stock p/s pump?

I haven't done it nor have I seen anyone with both, but with their significance in bad situations where both will be pushed, I would say putting it all on a stock setup may be risky.
I'd go with an upgraded pump.

check out http://www.forthefarm.com for a belt driven hydraulic pump. I'd run the hydroboost seperate. When you get into higher requirements for the volume, the stock pump won't keep up. This is how they run them on medium duty trucks with belt driven pumps. The small diesels with the gear driven pumps have enough output to do both, but then you'd have to change the engine, a more pricey option, but one pump : )

I run my stock pump with HB brakes.. no problem... you will need a good cooler though...adding a Ram assist may be taxing on the the OEM pump.... look into AGR...

I run my hydroassist steering on my stock box. Works great, it hasn't even had a rebuild yet.

Andrew,
He wants HB brakes AND Hydro assist... I thnk that may be too much for a stock PS Pump... but good for one of the upgrades....

Stolen76, thanks for the link, I don't think I'll try both mods on the stock pump.
Rockjeep44, would you go from pass side drop diff cover to tierod, or axle tube to tierod for hydro assist?
Desert Beast, Thanks for the link, that is a pretty easy mod!!!
Thanks for the help guys. smile.gif
