Can I use a steel pipe as a filler tube, and run it thru the hole in the bed, or does it have to be rubber where it goes thru for a reason? Less chance of any sparks? The top part of the tube, with the vent nipple in the bed is o.k., but I need to get a right angle as SOON as it is under the bed, so that pesky "s" shaped tube can go downward to the tank. What I'd like to do is have a 90 degree angle tube go thru the hole in the bed, and connecet it to the s-tube with rubber hose. I'll connect it to the "orriginal" rubber filler in the bed. I guess I'd just seal around the hole with silicone or something. Jim

I plan on having a local mufler shop bend me a piece of tubing to run from the filler hole down through the rear quarter panel and connect into the metal line underneath with a rubber connector.

I never thought of sparks possibly being a problem.

I hope someone here has some knowledge on this. I would like to know also.

im using 3/4" threaded pipe from the hardware store. its OD is 1" and fits in the OE hose from the later GWs twin tube filler necks.

If there's plenty of clearance where the pipe goes through the bed, it's mounted firmly and chaffing isn't a prob you're ok. If it's a close fit and you have an RV/trailer place near you check with them. They should sell various gaskets/grommets for aux tank filler pipes that fit around the pipe and isolate it from the sheet metal.

I was kinda thinking it should have a gasket, just because! I got a brass 90degree pipe from work that will work perfect. Is there any fuel in a brass pipe issue?? Ya know like the amonia/bleach combo fumes will kill ya? Don't want to hook this whole thing up, just to really screw up my motor because the gas reacted to the brass. That would suck!!!!
