Hey, my wag has developed a annoying "beeping" problem, and before I started ripping it apart I thought I would do the smart thing and ask the question. The problem is that one day I got into the wag and it had a constant "beep" or "chime", this is before I even put the key into the ignition. The chime is effected by all the events that would cause the chime to occure. What I mean is that, sometimes when I shut the door the chime changes from a constent chime to a loud beep, and when I turn the lights off (after the jeep is turned off) the chime decreases in volume. The chime occures even when the jeep is off so as a result I have to disconnect the battery every time I park it. I had to drive all the way from Arkansas to San Antonio Texas with this problem. The chime has gone away before but returns a few minutes later. I hope I explained the problem well enough, I am going crazy. Help!!!!!!

I don't know if this will help, but I had a similar problem, I had a draw from the battery when everything was off, but the funny thing was the chime would ring on and off. My problem ended up having nothing to do with the chime. I had dropped my alternator onto the cement floor while doing other work and the alternator developed an electrical problem, it would draw a small amp load when sitting "off". I replaced the alternator and evcerything was okay. If you could find the chime and disconnect it that might tell you if that circuit is the problem or not.

The chime is in the blue module attached to your fuse box.Found out the other day mine chimes when the low fuel light comes on(you'd think that would be an often occurence). Is your fuel gauge working properly?Jeepweezel your '86 has the same dash as mine and porchpiggy so this may give you something to look at.
