Well, here's the scoop folks. I've battled with myself since I bought my wiggy back in April/may of last year of keeping her or sending to her to greener pastures. I haven't had the money to really do anything with her and I really still don't buuuut.... I can't just let her go. Every time I walk past her or see her it drives me crazy, I am a firm believer that if I have something, I want to use it. Long story short, she's licensed but has a bad altinater.

Next weekend if my fellow Missouri fsj'ers can pull together, come out to the farm and help me out that would be absolutely awesome! I will provide the BBQ and brews and we could have an awesome time just hangin out, bring out your fsj's and have a blast!

Pm me if you can, thanks guys!

Jjkage84, clean out your in box bud.

You got a plugin within 10-12' of where your rig can be at for the floorboard work you mentioned as a maybe?

If so, I might have something to help with that.

Got one off a '78, worked fine when I parted that rig. May have 2 actually, I'll bring it/them along. If it work still, I could give it to you cheap.

Was keeping it for a spare, but now I'm thinking of upgrading when the one in my heap goes south. Just dont ask what I have in mind for an upgrade.:noevil::hide:

On the "if anybody has" list, I wouldn't mind gettin ahold of a boobie grill if someone brings one along. For a trail rig, so dinged up or whatever wont hurt.

Hate to be bearer of bad news.................
Getting my shed organized tonight, found the alt. high on a shelf and got it down.
When I gave it a spin, the bearings aren't good.
I will bring it along, maybe one of us we could manage to cannibalize/combine the 2 and make a good one.

The other one I was thinking I had is a spare for my DD. Totally different.

Also, just now realized, ANYBODY ? what year did they change alternators?

Would you mind if I trailered in my 1979 Cherokee so I can get my rear brakes rebuilt?

I would prefer to drive it, but it is not going anywhere until the brakes are finished.

I live just over an hour south of Sullivan. My showing up will depend on: if I can get the trailer cleared of all the junk that is currently on it, collect up all the parts I need, and get the Jeep loaded by Saturday morning. So, we will see if I can get all of that done.

Man,

I cannot imagine how much I would get done if I had a bunch of powerhouses like this living near me! Wish I could be there, but hope you guys have a great time! I have always worked alone save for the boy, but he is not really into it and I can't force him to love it!

I need a weekend to get my shop racks moved around so i can get my 2 post lift setup but something else always comes up... guess if I had a band of Merry FSJ'r's comin out there would be no excuses!

Anyway, have a great time and I hope you get that beaut back on the road! And those Chero brakes should be a breeze!

I should be able to pull one when I collect the brake parts that I need.

Of those FSJer's that are heading to Sullivan on Saturday:

Does anyone have a set of rear axle brake lines (hard / metal) that they would be willing to part with / sell, and be able to bring along?

It is a 1979 Cherokee Wide-Track with the Dana 44 offset (passenger side) rear axle. However, Narrow-Track or AMC 20 lines may work as well, I am not sure.

All of the ones that I have attempted to harvest have been too rusted to re-use.

Same reason I am having to replace the ones on the Cherokee. The rust and corrossion prevented me from successfully removing the driver side line from the wheel cylinder. I finally had to cut the line to remove it. I think I was able to successfully loosen the passenger side, but that still remains to be seen as I have not removed that side yet.

What time you want to start a Saturday?

I know you are starting grilling at noon, but didn't know if you were starting before that to knock some things out.

If I missed it somewhere sorry-its been a rough day(s).

That's no good buddy but like you said, at least you got a heads up. Hopefully something will turn up soon!

What time you want to start a Saturday? Anytime guys, I'll have the signs (nothing special, just something on Webb Ln so you know which house is the right one) around 8 I guess so anytime really. I plan on leaving here around 7-7:30ish, so that should put me there around 9:30-10am-ish.

Does anyone have a set of rear axle brake lines (hard / metal) that they would be willing to part with / sell, and be able to bring along? All of the ones that I have attempted to harvest have been too rusted to re-use.
Afraid that will be the case with pretty much all of them in our area.

I have (and will bring) a tubing bender, cutter, and double flaring tool, as well as a little tubing(dont recall what sizes), and a couple fittings.
Whatever parts stores are near by should have any odds and ends we need to make you some new lines. I use this stuff, its sold under several names, but basically coated annealed (bends easier) steel line.
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/Brakelines-Brake-Line/_/N-8kp1m?itemIdentifier=602041&_requestid=2985263
Pre-made lengths with the fittings may work, and be cheaper, if we can get ones just a little longer than you need. I can cut the extra and re-flare the ends for a good fit.
Its not too bad if you have the originals in (more or less) one piece to copy the bends.

Side note...................
At this point my mind is in "Just in case" mode. So, I will be bringing pretty much all of my "junk".
Including an (old and tired, but works) air compressor, impact, Longevity 3-n-1, timing light, vacuum gauge, brake line tools, and about 6 other mismatched tool boxes of misc. stuff.:banghead::banghead:

Seriously though, I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning.
I think we are going to have a great time getting to meet everybody, and work on a couple FSJs together.:thumbsup:

I have an extra CS130 (105 Amp?) alternator we could install but I'm having trouble finding a NAPA EC82 SI-to-CS alternator adapter. We could just add resistor to the CS130 pigtail wiring but I'm not sure my alternator has a pigtail on it until I get home and can actually take a look at it.

Hope everybody made it home OK.

Not real sure, but we may have to do it again some time. That was almost fun.:p:p

Seriously though, whats not to like.

1)Made 4 new friends, all board members, and 1 that from the sounds of it, may be soon.

2)Saved a Wag from an uncertain future by helping the owner fix a few things so he can keep it.

3) Learned first hand how to do a TFI upgrade, and a cs130 upgrade both.

4) Fixed a couple small bugs on a second Wag.

Yep, if you decided to make another go of it, I'll have to think about it................................................ ..........

OK, I thought about it, and............ I'M IN.

Joe, hope everything is working fine. Wish I could've stayed longer, but the wife already had plans. Definitely a good get together.
Jim, you get the first call for the next wrench-a-thon. Enough tools to start a small shop! Rich really liked your timing light, so you may want to check to make sure it made it home. Kevin may be the next in line, we can get his TFI done quik and find his wiring gremlin. We definitely need to do this again, even if we don't work on someone's wag.....Del

Del, I have a couple I'll post up tonight. I put a few on my build page. I should have grabbed my dads 40d and shot a lot since I wasn't too much help :o

Next time semo! Mi CasaSu casa guys. Anytime we want to have a big wrench a thon my place is always open. Enough room in there to fit a couple of wags and go to town!

She fires right up. I just have to put a heavier gauge wire on the alt and fix a fan clutch.

Glad to help another member out. Definately get that fan clutch before you run it much, would suck to have the fan pop through the radiator now.

Jim, you get the first call for the next wrench-a-thon. Enough tools to start a small shop! Good to know I am useful for something :p. Still a lot I dont have, but I am workin on it though. A good tube bender is next, got bumpers, tire carrier, and a cage to make.

Rich really liked your timing light, so you may want to check to make sure it made it home. I got it, for now. Thinking, once I get my TBI in, I may trade it to Rich for him to clean up my wiring so its all pretty and neat like his;) .

Kevin may be the next in line

Paging Kevin.......??..............where is Kevin?
He and Rich did find, and fix a couple bare wires right before we quit for the day. We never did track them down 100% (buried in the wire loom) but thought they may be cruise related.
I was wondering if his cruise worked on the way home?

sorry for the late response....
I had a lot of fun on Saturday- and learned a lot too!

Jim-No the Cruise control is still not working...

I am definitely down for another wrench-a-thon, and as discussed I have some things I could use some help on. I would be willing to have one at my place, but it may have to be at least a few weeks out.
--We are tearing into our main bathroom for a total remodel and the wife would prefer to not have guest with the house tore up, which I get...

I need to get some parts together too.
Del is the man! He called me today and said he has the last piece I needed for TFI. THANKS again!!

I'll start working through these but here is my list (that keeps growing...):
TFI
I need to test/track- the dash tail gate switch, cruise control components, the clock/dash light dimming while braking, door chime doesn't work (I don't care but may be related to something else), short in line to power seats, and sure more electric issues.....
I am going to see about the in dash tailgate switch mod if the switch is toast- looks like a pretty easy just a different switch.

I think I may have thrown a wheel out of balance-on the way home Saturday I got a little vibration at about 63 MPH but would go away closer to 70 MPH. No vibration in the steering but I feel it- so I am guessing something in the rear. It's not crazy, but want to make sure it isn't something worse than balance. The Prior owner put newer tires on it a little before I got it, I am hoping the free balancing transfers to me! I know it isn't real expensive, but free is better.

Still kicking around what I am going to do about the suspension- mild lift or fix up the stock ride height.
---I know the rear springs/shocks and body mounts are toast- not sure how bad up front is...

And sooner than later, I need to take care of the rust on my lower 1/4 before it gets a lot worse.

So we'll see how quickly I knock out this bathroom remodel and can see if I can get something scheduled after that! If someone else needs a hand before then I may be able to get a pass from bathroom work for a day.

Joe...those pictures make our rigs look nicer than they actually are. Thanks for posting. By the way, if you didn't get your clutch fan yet you may want to search IFSJA for the Hayden 2797 severe duty clutch fan. There are plenty of write-ups in installing this clutch fan.

Jim...I'm still lusting over that timing light you have. Right now I have this one on my wishlist at Amazon. It sells for about $100 with free shipping. I'm fairly certain it is the equivalent of the Sears model you have. The Sears timing light was around $137.

x2 on the flattering photos! And my wife really liked the shot of the Jeep going across the field.
While Rich and Del's rigs really do look good-the dark close up of mine hides the rust and saggy wag perfectly! Doesn't hurt you cant see me either!
My camera is acting up, but hopefully I can upload the ones of the three of us at breakfast.

And Rich- you've got me thinking about the rust and talking to some of my buddies to see if someone with some welding skills can help with some 1/4 patches. I was being delusional and thinking I could grind it, skim it, and paint. Pretty sure the grinding won't leave much behind it to paint.... more to come.

I do envy the timing light too makes mine look like a relic, but looks like if I hold out a little while I may know two people with one!
