I had the feeling I might have to do a xmsn rebuild and today confirmend it. Tried to adjust the front band and the adjuster went all the way to bottom. So next week during my leave I'm going to pull it and do a rebuild.
The first question: The local O'Reily's has a kit (supposedly complete with bands) by Pioneer for 66.00. Or would you recommend ordering the kit from a place like Bulkparts or Aeomatic Recon (upgradeed parts?)?
2nd: Should I go ahead and put a new torque converter on while I'm at it? It seems to still be working OK but I don't want to have to pull the xmsn out anymore than needed.
Plus any recommened upgrades to do while it's out.
Thanks

Boonie, I'd get a full kit from B&M, or TCI, and install the shift/towing mods that they have. If the torque converter is working as it should, leave it.

You might want to look into B&M's Trick Shift tranny fluid, because of the friction modifiers they put into it. It mixes with the fluid that's still in the 'verter, with no problems.

Other than that, the regular kit will accomplish what you want, but the performance kits will give you some options.

I agree with using the kit from B&M and the shift kit. But I would use a new/rebuilt converter, why rebuild the trans and put a used converter back in?

Thanks for the input guys,
64Tvlr, have you ever been up to Outlaw Canyon?
I used to live in Gillette and we went up there hunting and fishing alot. I still have an aunt and uncle (mom's brother and sister)living in Gillette and my Grandma live there in the summer time. Bighorns are some serious 4wd country!

I'm with these guys . . I used the TCI kit and love it. I would go with the remanufactured torque converter too, I don't want to have to pull that thing apart again.
