While crawling around under my car in preparation for installing a lift kit, I found three metal tubes grouped under the car. They are hanging half way up the passenger side firewall unconnected.

- One originates from the top of my NP299
- One originates somewhere from the front of the gas tank area. I can't tell what it is connected to
- One originates from somewhere in the rear of the gas tank area. I can't tell where this one is connected either.

Note: the rubber tube for the rear gearbox vent is hanging loose. I wonder if it is supposed to connect to one of these.

The DSPO replaced the motor and left a lot of things missing or unconnected.

Any help on where to connect these tubes will be greatly appreciated!

The one from the 229 should be a vent for it and should end right there if the end is turned upside-down , the other two are vents for the gas tank and went to the chrcoal canister.

lanerboy,
I had the same thing on mine. One connects to the top of the 229 and runs to the engine compartment where it points downward. The other runs from the tank to the charcoal canister.
I think this happened when the PO had the t-case replaced. The mech. left the metal lines just flapping around, didn't bother to hook 'em up or swap the old brackets off the t-case to secure the lines, and the PO was too stupid to look.

Thanks guys. That makes a lot of sense. One of them does turn down, kind of a strange design but, at least I now know that it isn't supposed to connect to anything.
