OK, I am attempting to tighten the front end/steering up on Sherman.

So I figured I would replace the steering damper and the stabilizer bar bushings. After arguing with the skateboarder behind the counter at 4wheel parts, I finally got the correct steering damper. But he said he did not have a listing for any year of FSJ for the stab bar bushings.

I go back to my hotel room and call Brent at BJs. He informed me that the bar on Shermie is a smaller size than the one off my parts rig. So that makes me think that dropping the one from the parts rig (since it is bigger), replacing everything with poly is the way to go.....but Brent does not have a listing for the 1" bar or the small shock-like bushings on the verical link arms........

So back to 4wheel Parts and the skateboarder/surfer-types. I go over to the display with all the poly bushings for God knows what vehicles and pick up a set of generic 1" bar bushing and 4 shock bushings. The shock bushings' ID was too large, so on the way back to my room I stop at O'Reilly and pick up some 7/16''X 1 1/2" steel bushings (plan to cut to correct length).

Has anyone had a problem finding these parts?????

Do ya think what I have purchased will work???

And...BTW....ya know you are a FSJ owner when the kids at 4Wheel Parts, 4 hours from your home, and in another state (Houston, TX)....know your name!!!!

TIA

I ordered some poly bushings from ESPO that were the right diameter of the outer radius of the rod ends. then used a really sharp exacto blade to cut in the taper. It was done on a lark, but it worked great!

Replacing the stabilizer bar bushings will also help a lot, particularly if you upgrade to polyurethane bushings. Check on the diameter of your sway bar. They're $15.99/set at Jegs.
