ok guys don't laugh at me be i need some help. i posted awhile back that a had a vib after i installed the lift in my truck. after reading all the reponses i figured out what the problem is (i think).for the life of me i can't figure out how to take the drive shaft apart so i can phase it the right way. i want to get it right before i take it apart, because my wife drives it everyday.thanks. http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/confused.gif i must have spent to many years messing w/ vw's that i have a mental block.

Mine has a cap on the short shaft that holds the rear longer shaft from pulling out. The cap is crimped on with little metal tabs.

All the ones I've seen have a cap that is threaded to hold on the slip shaft. Take a look at it and if it has threads then just unscrew it and put it back with the arrows lined up. But if its the crimped on kind then its probably already in phase unless someone has taken it apart.

every time i take apart something i'm un familiar with, i scratch lines across the joint to give my self a guide to reassemble by. on d shafts. i use a prick punch. sorta like hansel + gretel leaving a trail of breadcrumbs. just another lesson learnt the hardway in my shadetreeing career.
