Well my oil pressure sending unit is bad on my '88 GW w/ 360. How hard are these things to replace? Hard to come by? I'll probably just do it next time that I change my oil, late next week, so I am just gathering info. This is all assuming that the sending unit is electrical and not mechanical. Right now when the key is turned to the "ON" position it peggs out at the top of the gauge and doesn't move after it is cranked. This is why I think the sending unit is bad.
Any help or suggestions, part #'s(can you get it at the zone or is it a dealer only part?)?

The oil pressure gauge on my 89' was doing the same thing. The Zone's got em. They're cheap, and just screw in like a lightbulb fella.

that is indeed the symptom of a bad sending unit.
they cost about 11.99 at autozone. it takes 5 minutes and a 9/16 box end to install.
note: don't do this while you engine is still hot. 200* F oil is very very bad for you.
heh heh heh. i'm sure some of you want pics of that, right? http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif stupid mistakes i've made... gotta love it

I just did this on my 88GW. There a common unit and easy/cheap to find. You didn't say if you had looked at it at all so i'm gonna give you all the scoop, maybe more than you need. It's located pass front low on the engine, in line behind another sensor with electrical plug that is for of all things, the electric choke. You'll be sitting in the right place to do it when you change the oil filter. 9/16 wrench, out and in, easy fix. (drip, drip, drip) Good Luck.

One word of caution, do not have your face or any other body parts directly under the vicinity of the sending unit when you take it out. I am speaking from experience, embarassing though it may be.
