Rich, Del, anyone from St Louis heading out for this. I will kick in some for gas if you I can roll in your FSJ (I will be working the preceding weekn in St louis and will be in my Co Car). If you want to go but don't want to take your rig, we can buzz out there in the Equinox... though it only gets 20 MPG (stupid noisy, gutless 4 cyl! But the company pays the bills so I will endure!). Would double MPG of 401 FSJ's though!
Hey, what do most people do for a place to stay over the weekend? Any particularr hotels that are closer to Zack's?
Looking forward to it!

Would love to, but the GW isn't currently running at the moment. If I find the time between now and then to rebuild the carb (hope that is the problem  ) then I might be able to make it. Just can't commit without a running Jeep. :(

It's my plan as now that Nathan (FSJ Enthusiast Apprentice) and I will attend.
With my pending move to Allen, Texas, this will probably be the last M&G that we will attend.

Looks like it will get down to the wire on whether or not I bring my Wagoneer. The current tires are not trip worthy. Last week I ordered some new 17" wheels so hopefully they will arrive in time to get tires mounted and make the trip.
Bryan, I will be bringing my 15 yo son Matt. Hopefully Matt and Nathan will hit it off.
Men in Black, any chance you could bring me two six packs of All Day IPA to take back to St. Louis?
Well, if Rich gets his running I may have to also. In same boat with Rich as far as tires go. maybe Jesse and I will carpool, tho I won't know til last minute....Del

As previously discussed... we can roll out in the Company car if you guys don't mind rolling into Zacks in a non-FSJ.
Room for both you AND Matt.... hey, why don't we head out in the Matt's "Hunting" Wag? =)

Greg...We are looking at hotels now. Our plans are to drive to Maumee Friday after work and then drive home Sunday morning. We are definitely up for going out for dinner and drinks on Saturday evening. We will probably have to limit it to a TGI Friday or some place like that because of my son's age. The good news is we have a designated driver. HaHa you thought it would be my son but it is actually Jesse.

Jesse, Matt said he is willing to let you borrow the "Deer" hood off his Wagonner. He thought we could bungee strap it to the hood of your company car so you could fit in better with the real FSJs!

Wow.. that's the epitome of what can go wrong when you ASSUME! Wouldn't it be great if we all show up and find Zack's on vacation in Arizona? I imagine we could still have a good time, however, I have been looking forward to seeing Zacks Place since he left PA! (and I did too!)
Hope to see you soon... Rich, that FSJ hood might create too much lift!

I just made my hotel reservation at the Red Roof Inn in Maumee. The hotel is located at 1570 South Reynolds Road. From the reviews I've read, this hotel seemed pretty good - especially for the price. There are discounts for AAA, Veterans, Seniors, etc. I used code 604287 (Veterans discount) and the price was $40.79 per night. If the trip goes like last time, we won't check-in until Fri at about 11:00 PM. We will return to St. Louis first thing Sunday morning.
Boy, I sure hope Zack is on-board with this get together!

Looks like Zack knows about it, just found this thread. http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthread.php?t=151076
Starts at 11:00.
Well, the STL group will be there, but with no FSJ's. I need tires and some tuning, so we'll probably rent a car. Jesse could drive, but my son may go, so that's 5 of us. Too many for one car. Hope to see everyone there...Del

Well you guys could squeeze in to the Equinox.... how much room could 2 teenage boys possibly take up? =)
So Del, I guess you will be getting your own room with yo Boy?
If I bring my J10 Camper truck, is it legal for you guys to ride in back? We could all be one big happy, bouncy crew! There aren't any seat belts back there, but hey, we survived our childhoods without them, right?
Just getting around to reservations. Been sick for two days and just woke up. Jesse, I made reservations at the Red Roof Inn in Maumee. Got a rate of $41 dollars. Jerren does want to go, so went ahead and booked room. Also thinking, maybe someone from the Thursday meeting ( local group of FSJ's) would be willing to ride up with Jesse? He sings OK...so wouldn't be a long ride. See everyone Sat. morning...Del

I'm very disappointed to find my new wheels will not get to me in time to make the trip. So, no FSJs from St. Louis this time. Last night I reserved a rental car for the trip. When you do the math we will actually save $200 in travel expenses (including the cost for the rental) by renting a car for the trip.

Well with both the kids being sick almost all week and me out of town in St Louis and Rolla for much of the week, I had too much to do at home to make it out. Sold my Eagle Station Wagon and have to clean somethings out of it and put the radio back in before the fellow comes to pick it up.
Needed to thin down the herd but would rather have been at Zacks!
Hope you guys have a great time... here's looking forward to a Spring get together!

The wheels arrived one hour before leaving for the trip. The guys at the tire shop went out of their way to mount new tires so we could make the trip.. We tried to fool Del into thinking we had a rental car but the Wag's exhaust note gave us away when Del called while in-route to his house.
We will be leaving Maumee in about an hour or so. Wish us luck for the trip home!

This was my second trip to Zack's for the M&G. The funny thing is, I was plagued with bad gas problems for the return ride home on each trip. The first gas problem was Del (thank-you Packos) and for the last trip, the problem was possibly some bad gas from a Speedway gas station. Adding some fresh gas and a bottle of Cheveron Techron fuel system cleaner got us back to running normal. After that, the rest of the trip home was uneventful. However, nothing like bucking and eventually stalling on a highway when you are 475 miles from home.
All in all we had a great trip. I may now have to return to Maumee just to eat good food. Zack has a long list of great places to eat at and so far the places I've tried have been amazing.

I compiled the data for our trip and thought I'd share the results.
Vehicle: 1991 Jeep GW
Engine: 1974 401 w/291C heads, Crane H260 cam, GM TBI (EBL)
Transmission: 727TF
Gears: 3.54
Tires: 285-70-R17 Firestone Destination AT
Fan: Electric
Miles Driven: 1126.36
Gallons Used: 100.03
AVG MPG: 11.26
Best MPG (per tankful): 13.37 (Highway all the way)
Worst MPG (per tankful): 9.52 (50% highway/50% city)
Highway Speed: 60-70 MPH
The difference of driving 60 MPH vs. 70 MPH is about 1.5-2.0 MPG. The drive to Zacks was cold and very windy. Driving home was not that bad.
