Sorry to bother everyone with this again but it is crucial that I have all the information I can get. Here is the low down, I ordered a new oil pump cover (the piece that covers the gears) and it did not have the hole for the oil filter bypass (the spring, seal, and metal clip that is held down by the nipple). So then, I reordered a new one and it should be here anyday. If the new cover doesn't have the bypass is it OK to use it? The 1st cover looked like it may have been cast to not have the bypass. Any help would be appreciated and I hope I didn't confuse you. thanks again

I do not follow you on the problem. However I will say the bypass is neccesary. I would like to see a picture of the problem you are encountering, if that would be possible. The oil bypass circut is pretty straight forward, but not as explained by you. It has a plunger, with a spring loaded behind it. This is held in the bypass bore with a large bolt. I understand none of this. the spring, seal, and metal clip that is held down by the nipple
