The 472 actually puts out more power then the 500 with it's NET rating @ 300hp/420ftlbs.
Price is good, but six of those motors are only 190hp/360ftlbs so they would be no match for an AMC 401 sleeved to 500CI. :D

I had a 70 Caddy with the 472 in it. I'll tell you that is one awsome motor.

the 472 is the prize in that lot. The low ratings on the 500 can be bumped up quite a bit with an aftermarket intake and some used big block chevy headers. ( some one out there makes a reasonably priced adapter)
The thing about these engines in stock form most if not all of the manifolds were a very low rise design to maximize hood clearance. They were so low that the air fuel mixture had to go below the level of the intake port and back up to get into the chamber.
From what I have read a medium rise intake makes a sizeable difference in power.
