Alrightly, I'm about to stick the Ferd axles in my wag since all the parts from ebay finally came in. My question is for anybody that's ran Ferd 9 inchers. I'm used to runnin' 90 weight gear oil in my axles, does anybody recommend anything different for Ferd 9 inchers? All replies welcome, even ones making fun of me for stickin more Ferd parts in my Jeep when everybody else is trying like mad to get Ferd parts it came with out. :D

I run 80w90 in all my axles. Granted I run 60s but thats what I would run if I was you. BTW, you got any pics of that rig?

Not yet. I just got a digital camera two weeks ago and I can't figure out how to get the stupid thing(Concorde from Walgreens) to work. I take pics all day long and when I go to download them to my computer it says it's empty. I'm headed back to Cheyenne this weekend and I'll screw around with it some more. Then I'll just have to figure out how the heck to post em!

Sounds like a fun swap and a great SOA front axle for 80+ big jeeps.
90w is fine just use plenty of it. The 9" does not use bearing grease on the outers like the dana axles, the gear oil runs the length of the tubes and lubes the outer bears. That's why some leak at angles but if the seals are good no prob there. Let us know how it goes.
