Motor and Transmission Questions??

I have a 1973 J4600 with a 360 adapter ring type turbo 400 and dana 20. The motor is shot and the tranmission case has several cracks in it. I also have a 1984 Grand Wag with a 360 727 and np229 which are in full operating order. What I want to do is put the motor from the 84 wag into the J4000. So the question is will an adapter ring turbo 400 or amc case 400 be easily adapted to the 84 Grand wag motor. If the first question it true what is necessary to adapt the dand 20 to one the turbo 400 transmissions.

Yes the adaptor ring will bolt to the 84 motor. You could get a newer version of the TH400 73 to 79 and use the tail shaft out of your current TH400, along with the TH400 to Dana 20 adaptor. Going to the 73 to 79 TH400 will allow you to do away with the adaptor ring and flex plate spacers. I also do have a good TH400 that is the same as you have now, I would sell cheap if interested.

Thanks for the info. I went to the local pick n pull and got a turbo 400 from a 79 wag for $100.00
