I am hioping to pull the AMC 360 from my 91 GW this weekend and feel I may have some trouble getting the engine over the front support in front of the radiator. I think it would be close even if I removed the front wheels or deflated them. Does anyone know if I need to remove the fenders in order to remove this upper support? The fenders appear to crimp over the support. TIA

Huh?????
I've pulled many engines and quite a few out of waggies and have NEVER had to pull any body work other than the hood?
You will have to remove the radiator though, including the fan.
Any std cherry picker (engine hoist) will be able to lift it above the grill and clear of any body work.

You could probably have the engine out in as much time as it would take to remove the fenders, especially since you would need to remove the inner fenders in order to make the effort worthwhile at all.

I got a 360 out of a chero chief in record time.. had no trans in it.. .. just unhooked everything.. cut all the lines/wires/hoses.. and used a big ole loader to yank it heehheh..
Gotta love Loaders..
I picked up my car trailer last week and flipped it over to weld the underside of a new hitch reciever. hahahha...

Actually the whole front clip is quite easy to remove in one piece after removing the hood. If you have a helper you do not even have to pull the rad provided you dont have (or want) A.C. The core support, frt header panel, and inner and outer fenders will come off in 1 piece by removing the 2 frt body to frame mounts, the fender to door opening bolts, the fender to rocker bolts, the 2 bolts inside the lower inner fender panel on both sides (4 total) and the hood hinge to cowl bolts. Of course you have to remove the headlight harness. With the frt clip off removing the engine/tranny/tcase in one piece is a snap. This also made it much easier to move the motor mounts, replace the front crossmember, and move the steering gear box from right by the firewall to the frt of the frame (which is why I replaced the frt c/member).

Thanks for all of the replies, I 'll see if it won't come out without removing the front clip first and take it from there. Thanks again.

My vote goes for removing the front clip---makes the engine removal/replacement a real piece of cake! It is EASY---my son-in-law (a fraud investigator for an insurance company) showed me how to do it--we had the entire clip off in less than 30 minutes!!!
