I am getting ready to install a 16" puller fan. This fan came with some mounting brackets. The brackets are the typical semi-rigid, but flexible enough to been type. When I mount this fan using these brackets, should I mount the fan as close as possible to the radiator without inflicting damage, or is there a optimal space (1-3"?) between the puller fan and radiator to maximize cooling?

Don't know if this is a contributing factor, but I have a 13" pusher fan if front of my tranny/ac condensor/radiator.

When I remove the stock fan, should I remove the fan clutch too?

Thanks for your responses in advance.

Mounting the fan as close as possible to the rad. within your shroud is best. Remove all mechanical fan parts leaving just a pulley mounted via bolts (or studs in my case). ;)
