Hi Folks,

Question. For those of you living in the Southern states... a friend of mine may be moving to the Greenville,SC area. He's got a modified CJ, what's the smog police like?

Do they do visual check/

Thanks,
Mike

I lived in Greenville from 1986-1990 and had a 83 CJ7 that i put a 360 into it with all the edelbroch performer parts with a non-egr manifold and electric 600 cfm carb and never had any problems. Not sure if things have changed since then. There is a guy that come in here from Greenville, works for Michelin..cant remember his handle something like EEVW or something like that. Look in the members section and maybe u can get his e-mail http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

South Carolina has totally done away w/ any type of vehicle inspection what so ever. Just take a look on the highway hahaha.
Anyway they never did any type of emissions check only a safety inspection, lights, horn, tires, E. brake ect.
But anything goes now http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
Insurance is CRAZY EXPENSIVE though. I hope your "friend" doesn't have a bad driving record. If so make sure he/she has deep pockets!
But otherwise it is WIDE OPEN
have fun http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif

Gladi8R is right...zippo on the emissions check.

I doubt very seriously if we ever get the laws passed. To many good ole boys who love their hopped up trucks and GW in my case....imho.

Regards

Tennessee is the same way. I don't have any catalytic converters. I'd say you could run open pipes if it weren't for the noise. Out in the county people do run open pipes.
