how in the heck do you all keep your hoods down while you are driving along. my hood pops up on the passanger side because of where the hood latch is, who thought putting the hood latch on the driverside was a good idean anyhow??? im thinking hood pins. any other ideas?

I have never had a problem with that before, try tightening the latch, or getting another from a junk yard. Maybe your latch is defective. I dunno. Just my thoughts

im open to sugestions, i wont be driving it on the road for a while(money and time is kinda tight right now) but i do know i can push the hood down all the way till it catches real good and still be able to get the passenger side to pop up with almost no effort

When you say "...keep your hoods down..." what do you mean - is your hood actually coming all the way up? Or is it "flapping" an inch or so as you drive. If it's coming up, you need a new latch or to repair the one that's there. If it's flapping, you're driving my Jeep... I mean you've go to adjust and maybe repair those little bumpstops under the hood. Those spring loaded bumpstops keep pressure on the hood - pushing the corners up. The latch pulls (holds) it down.

If you look carefully next time you have the hood open, where the latch mechasim's (spelling) are, the latch's will move back and forth. More than likely the grease on them are old and is sticking the latch's in the open position. Try cleaning off the old grease, and re-greaseing. Move them back and forth and make sure they retract from the open position on their own. I have a similar problem, but just push the latch back before I close the hood. (Mine also sticks on one side only)

Another thing to check is your hood stop post. These can be adjusted. If one is to high, you will get a half latch.
When you pull your lever to open your hood, make sure you push it back manually before closing your hood.
my 70 wag used to flap on the one side. you can EASILY add a second spring latch thingie.....got one from the junkyard for $2 for the other side. nice and smooth now.
