Freakin alternator to fit in the **** jeep. Am I thick or is there something else going on. First, Autozone gave me a alternator today with the single pulley slot. I understood that one, but what I don't understand is if it's the same freakin size then why won't it go back on. Granted that my son-a-biotch buddy took it out while I was helping. It should be common sense to put it back right? I had that thing on at the top and it would'nt fit the bottom. No matter what I tried and then it came to me that when one changes the alternator around they restructure it to fit,I guess. I finally reached my friend and he was saying something about fitting it to a clock or the old alternator. Anyhow, he's supposed to help me tomorrow after work. I told him that if he ever helps me with something again that I should remove whatever it is just incase he's a no-show the next day like today.
Boy-0-Boy am I pissed. The reason why is cause I was off for two days and we did'nt get that done and I go back to work tomorrow doing a 9 1/2 hour day and then to get off and pick him up and do the alternator basically in the dark and then drive him back home. Man this sucks. Or I can just wait a week till next tuesday and do it then.
On top of that one of the battery posts started to loosen up like it was coming off. I then took it to Advance Auto where I bought it to have it replaced, but the manager says that my name or number is not in the system for the computer. I'm like, well maybe something went wrong. He said it can't happen and I tell him evidently it did cause I bought it there and I'm not lying. I forgot to mention that while going in he was outside pissed cause someone put a big dent on the hood of his 2-week old new car. I just cut loose and let him have it, then stormed out with the battery and went home. Thanks for lettin me vent. God, I hope it does'nt snow yet. That's the main reason I'm trying to get the jeep together and park my Love the Impala for the winter.
I'm just starting to get tired of fixin stuff right now with the long hours.
Talk to yall later.

Man, sorry to hear about your day! :(

Fixing things is cool when it's a warm day and you have the time to spare. Fixing things when the weather's lousy, it's dark out, you've got to be driving your truck, you're tired and you have no time to spare just plain stinks.

But, cheer up; Spring is only three months away!

If you still can't figure it out, maybe someone can post a pic of a properly installed alternator. I'd go take a pic but my Cherry is at the shop. ( I had to swap cars at the shop to get the Vette . . . long story never mind)

Anyway, let us know if we can help.

I can laugh because I've been where you are many times. Once under a school bus in the parking lot of a parts store replaceing a starter(store gave me the wrong one, twice) with oil dripping on me while my friends were on the deck on top of the bus drinking beer. Oh yeah I had to walk to school up hill both ways in the snow too. ;)

But I think your buddy was talking about clocking the alternator. The alternator case is 2 peices. These two peices can be taken apart and rotated and put back together in a different position. This can allow for better clearance, or for mounts to match up properly. The important thing is to have someone do it who knows what thier doing because if you pull the case apart enough the brushes and springs in the alternator can fall out. Then things get interesting. Wish I could help you out more.
Good luck. You'll get it back together eventually an the beer will taste that much better.

I just looked at another post and Bob Barry has a web sight with some alternator mounting diagrams at Bob's tech page (http://home.off-road.com/~wagoneer/tech/index.html). Hope it helps.
