very strange noises

I have been having a problem with after my wag warms up it idles rough and the oil pressure drops, at stop there is no noise but as soon as i accelerate the Valves (I guess) make a horrible racket. until the oil pressure rises to 20 and the again whenever I accelerate. Is it time for a new engine or just head work?

Sounds to me like she aint long for this world. :eek: Rods make all sorts of "racket" right before they let go and ventilate blocks. Others will chime in, best of luck to you smile.gif

What does the oil pressure drop to? It sounds like you will need a rebuild very soon...

A long shot, but are you getting any smoke out of the exhaust, specifically BLACK smoke. If that's the case, your carb could be running VERRRRY rich. Happened to me once in my old GW.

When my old GW ran very rich, it idled roughly, kept stalling, and knocked a lot.

I am in San Marco. I think it might the timing chain needs replacing. but am not sure if that would cause all the tapping.
