I've replaced my engine, pulled/rebuilt/replaced my transmission, resealed my transfer case, done a bunch of steering work, oil changes oil pan gaskets, fuel line and fuel tank work...
And I've never even put the wagoneer up on a jack or jack stands, it has had all 4 tires on the ground ever since i have owned it.
Gotta love a lifted jeep.

This is why I love old trucks and hate working on cars:)

one item on my "honey-do" list is to replace the steering box on my girl's 69 Nova...i dont think my jack even fits under the front end of her car. I need a jack to fit a jack.
At least her engine bay is way less cluttered i guess. but it sucks, i cant even fit my chest under it!

After working on the truck, I get claustrophobic under the wag...lol I recently found a good solution to the low car deal. Scissor jack and an impact. Find a scissor jack with a bolt head style, not the hole and hook style connector, put the impact to it, and in 5 seconds, both the front and rear wheels are in the air.

I agree. I changed the trans fluid on our BMW recently, and even up on jacks I couldn't roll over under it. Sucks. Next time I'm putting her up higher.
Even not lifted I love being able to get under the Waggy to check something.

For our cars, I found that the jock points on a unibody car are so jack specific that using stands is very dicey. I've started using ramps when I'm working on the car. But my waggy is so fun to crawl around underneath. The access is great. The only thing batter was my willys station wagon. I could sit cross-legged underneath it when I was working on the brake lines at the rear axle.

I can do that under my entire truck. My wrenching buddies say that the next time we have to change the motor, we have to drop it out the bottom!

I'm hardly even lifted (4" on 33's) and I could barely clear the radiator support without extending the boom past where I was comfortable.

It would be almost impossible to do with a normal cherry picker but, I don't have normal tools. We used the 1ton overheard crane last time but I could still use my home-made cherry picker. The guy I bought it from said he used it to pull motors from diesels and I don't think he meant consumer-grade pickups.

When I had a 70 Nova, my Speedy Lift floor jack was my best friend...

I can sit under the front end and change the oil without banging my head. I can kneel under the bed too with some room.
It's getting in and out of the truck that's getting harder. :(

So true, I know.
I started carrying a small AL step ladder about 5 years ago so I could check the oil.
