Saw a local ad for a J10, don't pop up very often around here.
guy said it has factory V6 ??
What motor would that be? were they under powered?
Looks like a clean truck, guy wants $3000 for it.

Assuming it's a factory 6 cylinder it will be the AMC 258 straight 6. Which transmission does the truck have? The 258 is not a drag race motor but will move the truck around nicely, lots of great upgrades for that engine to bump up the power. Also pretty reliable and fuel efficient.

The factory never installed a V6 in the FSJs.
As stated above, if it's a 6 cylinder, it's a 258 straight 6. The 258 has some good torque and the can get around fine with one. It won't win any drag races though.

Sounds like the seller is just confused. Alot of people call any 6 cyl. a "V6".
An '86 J-10 could have a 6 cyl., as Sean pointed out.
But the seller could also be mistaken, an the truck could be an '86 Comanche, in which case it could be had with a 2.8l, GM built V-6. If so, RUN AWAY! They're woefully underpowered even in the small Comanche and have serious reliability problems.

Lots of people say v6 when they mean straight 6 and vice-versa. It drives me nuts.

I used to work with a guy who had a '78 J20 with a 401. According to him it had a straight 8.
