What years trucks did the front rotors work for the rear disk conversion? What about a 73 K20 3/4 4x4? Thanks Dennis

Also, I found a 79 2wd chevy, with 8 lug 3/4 fronts that is being parted out. Are the rotors any different than the 4x4? Dennis

They have to be from a 4x4 because it need to be the hat style, no hub or bearing. you may also be able to use the rear rotors off the late corp. 14 bolt semi floater. I have a complete rear w/factory disc, from a 99 1ton

TSM recommends 1971 through 1987 3/4 ton 4X4 front rotors for their rear conversions so you are probably ok with the 73's. If you want to cross reference they list a wagner part number of BD 60427.

I spent some time at the parts counter on this issue. Also read some posts at another site. There seem to be some variations in the later years that can mess you up. You can not go wrong if you buy them for a 1979 Chevy 3/4 ton truck.

If you go to napa a '73 chevy rotor and a '79 rotor have the same part number, 85677. been doing some research on this recently.

Thanks, Im sure the 73 will work. And only $25 at the Zone. Now, who makes the cheapest bracket set?

cheapest is not neccessarily the best. i strongly reccomend finding a kit that has a single spacer between the backing plate flange and caliper bracket. alot of the guys that sell their brackets for $50 and $60 give you 4 sepreate small spacers,or no spacers at all. the single spacer is a stronger design. it was important to me to have this design since i use my brakes as traction control.

on the rotor issue,we had an earlier 3/4 ton parts truck that i was going to use the rotors off of,however, on the backside of the rotor,there are slight indentations where the studs pull into. the rotors i had this indention was smaller than the 14 bolts stud,so it wouldnt pull as far into the hub. i went to the local zone and looked them up for a 79 3/4 ton 4wd chevy and those rotors had bigger indentions,so i just bought 2 of them. like you said,$25 each without the hub assembly. the studs pull alittle further thru these,letting alittle more stick out. this was good,as the stock studs that were in my 14 bolt were just barely long enuff for the lugnut to screw all the way on,with the rotor attached to the back in place of the drum.

one other tidbit,i f---ed up some of the studs and when i bought repalcements(some from the 'Zone,some from parts america) they were longer than my originals! at $2 apiece,i didnt really want to repalce all 8 on each wheel,so i used 4 long and 4 short per side.

using the shorter studs im sure isnt a big deal as long as youre careful when poundin em out,but id definately pay attenion to that little space on the rotor to make sure that the studs pull in as far as possible.

Scotty is totally right on the bracket setup. I went cheapy on mine for about $50 but I have since had to order the good spacer assembly from the guy that made Scotty's. Mine came with what looks like cutoff conduit tubing for spacers. I do not think they are safe.

Go with the setup from the guy Scotty recommends. You can't do the research and make one of these setups for this cost.

so he did sell you just the spacer? thats pretty cool...
