Proper stud instilation?

Ok this might be a dumb question but whats the proper way to install a stud? Should the stud just go in fingertight of should I double nut it and secure it tighter? Thanks

I actually have a stud installation tool. Double nuts work but I've toasted threads before doing it that way.
