Assuming it's a running truck with functional 4wd then you did pretty good at $400. It's always worth atleast that in scrap.

Welcome to the money pit. Errr, I mean forum! You probably should change that signature cuz we are a family friendly site. :) Since you have a 72 with a stick, you may want to check out the cabled clutch linkage. The cables stretch out worse than a QuadraTrac chain and can be a real pain to find parts for.

Welcome from Fort Wayne, Indiana!

$400 sounds like a good start on a excellent project!
WOW...factory 304 and three speed!
304 were only offered for 2ish years.
That T15 3 speed and Dana20 are near bullet proof

You have most definitively scored big!

I noticed in this picture that you have manual brakes, as I do not see a vaccum brake booster on the firewall behind the master cylinder.
Being a 1972 model rig, I would also guess you have drum brakes in all four corners.
I also see the Power Steering pump.

One of the upgrades I would recommend you perform is a Hydroboost Brake upgrade.
There is a lot on information on this site about it.
http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/search.php?searchid=1183480

Basically, it is a brake booster that uses hydraulic fluid from the power steering pump to assist with braking instead of traditional vacuum.
It's a gazillion times more efficient and not that difficult of a project.

Without question, I would NOT be in this hobby if were not for these people that come here to share information.
I thought for a while that this forum was magical, but after I started to meet its members and interact with them, I quickly discovered this forum is nothing.
The help I have I received here and the relationships I've built are priceless!

New guy, you pasted too much info in the insert image dialog box. The URL you inserted is for the whole album. You need to copy ONLY the URL or direct link for the photobucket JPG file.

that is the direct link to the image

Another idea for a upgrade would to use a Dana44 axle from a newer truck and swap out your axle.
(allow me to quality this by saying this would be MY idea of an upgrade and I am just sharing it with you for your consideration)

The newer axle would have an open knuckle where I believe your axle is closed knuckle.
The open knuckle will provide a closer, tighter turning radius and some may even say the parts for the open knuckle maybe cheaper and easier to find.

Next, the newer axle will have disc brakes whereas you have drums brakes.
Nothing wrong with good working drum brakes, but most all will agree that disc brakes are more efficient, provide a short braking distance, cheaper to repair/replace.

Now, the drawback of this upgrade are you need to be sure that ring/pinion ratio of the replacement axle is the same the axle under your truck now.
Also, a newer axle will have a six lug wheel pattern where your axle has a 5 lug.
With your nice black wagon spoke rims, that would be a huge bummer.

This is not a difficult, mind bending project, but is a lot of work.

Why am I suggesting this?
I was browsing our classified forum for something kewl that I could afford, that I get home without a lot of trouble, have space for and something the wife and neighbors would not try kill me over...
...and I saw this and thought of you:

well boys brought her home last night uploaded a couple more pictures/

pig smith when i went to pick it up the clutch when to the floor and stuck there obviously needs some lubrication. Anyway i comented on this and PO brought up how expensive it was to have the cable fabricated as his mechanic told him they dont make replacements i believe you were the one who told me to check on that, thanks and this was good to hear.

also he was stumped on why it wouldnt start. a wire was not connected to the coil thing plugged it in got some gas fired her right up best money i ever spent this thing is going my way thus far.

after school this week the bed is coming off an the seat and floor are coming out for replacement panels. took the old cap off what do you think.
