Just got home from an odd job and noticed the drivers door on my wagon (didn't drive today) was slightly open. Investigate further, and the hood is popped, but not latched. Open it, and surprise! My battery is gone! Look inside, and so is the crappy radio! Guess one of my doors wasnt fully locked or something. This ever happen to any of you?

You need the same sign I have at the end of my drive way. It reads.... Congratulations, you are now well within maxium effective range of my .308, proceed with caution.

That sucks man.

Back when I lived in an apartment (parking garage was the first floor and apartments above) I was heading to work, I worked early, 4:40 start, and as I opened the door of the apartment hallway into the parking garage, I heard the very distinct slam of a Wrangler door, I was still tired and grogy but I was alert enough to run twords my jeep which was just out of sight around the corner and sure enough 2 guys were running away from my jeep with a pillow case full of stuff, they split up quickly but I stuck on the one who had the bag.

He dumped the bag and, as hilarious as this sounds (and unbelievable) I yelled up to him " I can run like this all day long". I played hockey almost nightly and worked out but the fact that I could "run like that all night" was a bold lie.

But to my surprise he slowed down to stop and I tackled him real nice like. Walked him around to the front of my apartment, made him sit and called the cops.

Turns out the team of crooks hit 28 cars and had 20+ radios in 2 bags that got recovered. All Chrysler radios too.

Wow long story, but the worse part is they cut my soft top to unlock my doors. Really? How many times have I broke into my own jeep to do the same thing, you simply unzip the window.

Never did get reimbursed for the soft top, but they didnt have time to get my radio.

Now that is too funny, I was at pick n pull here in Denver not less than a week ago and parked next to the same exact car as the car I was in, and took a picture of its plates just incase. Too funny.

Thats why you never lock the doors on a soft top TJ! Pretty much the most expensive thing that can be easily jacked from a wrangler should be the doors themselves, and they have locks for those.

something my dad always said when I was learning to drive in my 2000.

Ya really, I think to get a Factory radio there is only 3 screws and 2 bolts if i remember correctly, as well as taking of the window defrost vent.

Ya thiefs suck. Seems if they spent half as much time looking for a job as they do looking for something to steal.

A guy I used to work with, and he is a very religious , told me that he made a "deterrent" for a co-worker at the last place he worked. The guy had a CJ that was broken into while he would be fishing at the lake. "Jerry" told me that he put some sort of high energy igniter that he charged up and showed how to put on the door handles to make it hot. The guy came in nervous on a Monday morning and got "Jerry" to the side and showed him an envelope. He took a pencil out of his pocket and lifted skin from the envelope. He said that the arc flash burned the palm skin right off of the thief's hand. They both were scared that they would be arrested for rigging a boobie trap.

My truck has an external hood release that I can't even lock. I've got to rig up something to lock it somehow.

I just got $8 for a dead battery, so yeah be careful, times are tough out there if you haven't heard.

The last thing I lost was the stereo from my last GW 7-8 years ago. They broke the small rear door window right in broad daylight in front of my wife's office. (I think it had a removable face, too, and she forgot to pull it.)

Back in the 80's in Florida I lost some batteries from vehicles without hood locks, an ancient CB out of an unlocked pickup, and had a convertible top slashed (doesn't take long to learn that lesson.) The best one was leaving a part time job, I stopped to talk to some guys working on a '68 Dart in a parking space. So, I offered them a jump and when I got to my '78 Newport DD the coil was gone. Yes, got them arrested.

There's worse things people can do to your car. Far worse.

I lock my Jeep up tighter than a crab's buttocks when I park it in my high school parking lot. I get so paranoid when it's parked out there. I often see idiots running through the parking lot doing 40+ MPH, or parking their 30 year old C10 pickup on a dirt mound at the end of the parking lot. People revving their engine up to 6000 RPM when it's still cold   .

Random guys walking into other people's cars, setting traffic cones on them, super glueing door locks, breaking side windows, plastic bags in the air cleaner, piss in the gas tank, doughnuts around lightpoles when the entire parking lot is an ice rink in the winter, tire slashings, keys to the paint, we se everything.

So I park at the extreme back corner of the parking lot it hopes that people leave the old girl be, which they have.

Never had anything stollen out of...or put into any of my junkers...but two months after I got the 4-door "finished" and licensed, it was rammed by a d-head in a Cummins Dodge Ram...while it was parked in my own freaking driveway.

His insurance paid me over $900 for the repairs and he apparently lost his license, for DUI.

My point - it don't matter if you lock it and alarm it, a plane could fall on it...or more likely - a de-orbitting Russian space-station. Or a drunken d-head can Ram it!

Sounds like someone was under the impression, that pick n pull, meant ANY CAR on the lot..lol.. Hope Ya got some satisfaction outta the deal. Sucks when they target ppl who struggle as much as the next guy, rather than chancin the wealthy, & Fully insured
