I would like to run dual exhaust on my 360 '79 Chero. Is it worth the work? I'll need another converter right? If i just ran 3" pipe back from the y-pipe to a flowmaster, would that give me comparable results? What if I ran the single pipe with headers going to the Y? I'm looking for a little noise too, will one flowmaster like maybe the 40 series do the trick? If yes is the answer to most my questions, then the only reason I'd want to run dual is 'cause it looks cool. Then again what more reason do I need? Heh, Heh...Any insight or experience would be great.
Thanks Guys,
J
Oh, have a good thanksgiving everyone and drive home from the inlaws sober ;)

I ran one flowmaster. Single output. Believe it or not other than the great sound I had better throttle response. It was not a 40 series. But there stock replacement, I saw great result and it sounds like a 5.0 Mustang. Good luck. If you do not want to spend the money on duals. I spent total $150. Replaced everything from the Cat back.

Hey Michael,
Do you know what the dia.of the new pipe from the cat back is? How bout the dia.of everything before the cat? Just wondering if it would make as much a diff if I just can 3" from my cat back to the flowmaster. Anyone see that Holley that has a removable cap to bacicaly make it an instant straight pipe? Looks pretty bad Great Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley Moogley. Be nice if they made a silencer kinda do-dad like that so your not so loud when going through a cop nest or something.
Thanks,
J
I have duals on my 87 w/ 40 series flowmasters. It' sounds pretty good. I deleted the cats though. The only thing I am going to change is the placement of the mufflers. The are right behind the cab. I'm going to move them further back. They'll sound better that way. If you want the look I would run a single Flowmaster and split it after the muffler. I think the mufflers themselves are aroung $60 a piece.

I'm no exhaust expert here, but I don't think you really want to run 3" pipe. It'll cut way down on your engine's backpressure. You do want to have *some* backpressue. Like I said, I'm no expert, could all be wrong. ;)
