luckily where i live i dont have to pass smog and i wanna get that cat outta there......when i remove it can i just cap off the vent hose or do i have to do something else to it?

Actually, you can remove the air pump, all the associated hoses, and put 9/16 bolts in the holes in your manifold, and completely desmog. Do a search on desmog and you should get some vacuum diagram stuff.

Do you think there would be any significant gains in performance by removing all that crap or is it just to clean-up the engine compatment? I know removing the cat will relieve backpressure but the air pump?

One other thing you need to remove is the Cat heat shield, the muffler guys that I've dealt with will see that and say no way.

so will it affect the air pump if i just cap this line off or should i just leave it uncapped?
