anyone in need of a slightly used REVERSE running waterpump for a 4.2??? before I take it back and beat the people at my local dealer.. I was just out there and took off the inlet hose to the heater box, started the engine and nothing. Scratched my head, cursed a few times, grabbed the trouble light and looked down on the pump and what do I see?

REV stamped on it...grrrrrr.

I called em up and asked to speak to the parts mgr. get some guy and tell him my situation. he says well I don't know if they will take it back and he needs cash down to get the right one. Maybe I should talk to the parts manager. I said. I thought I was.
grr grrrr. gotta call back when he gets there.

won't likely get the work done till the weekend.

thanks to all that helped, will keep ya posted.

You want my advice?? WELL YOUR GOING TO GET IT ANYWAY!! :D

After beating the parts guy over the head with the wrong water pump RUN as fast as you can away from the dealer and don't look back.

For things that are available elsewhere stay away from the dealer. Way too much money.

be cool, sounds like an honest mistake.prolly the rev flow are the latemodel ones and the ones the parts guy is most familiar with. if he can get you the right waterpump, fine. if not get a refund and head for the nearest parts place. let this be a learning experience.dealers dont like to deal in 20yr old parts. they sell cars. your amc wag is an orphan. the dlr doesnt even want it as a tradein. otoh, best not to be burning bridges

Sorry been LMAO. I bought a car once that a guy had spent a fortune on to get it to run cool. He was told it was the the fan clutch, he changed that and everything else in the cooling system. To bad he did not put the fan on faceing the correct way. :D

thats funny Crazy Jeepman.
The new pump will be in on thursday. They won't take the other pump because they said it was my fault for not noticing...BS..I don't have a lot of options for parts up here in Canada (that I have found)

I can get the right one at cost...
I just hope my door doesn't hit nothin when I open it. :D

It will be nice to have heat in the jeep. I was thinkin about buyin a little plug in heater and fillin the back with empty boxes.. good thing I waited.

If you really try, I think you can get your money back. In reality, it is their fault. You answered their questions, and based on that info they provided you with the part you needed. Well, since you don't live in Bizzaro world, the backwards device they "provided" you with was useless, hence a refund or at the very least, a creadit towards your new purchase. Seems that they hire fence posts these days to work counters and they have'nt got a clue. What if "they" had installed it? Would you still get the same run around? Sorry about the rant, but places like that really tick me off!!!

Maybe you can go in and speak with the owner. Take up an hour or so of his valuable time explaining your sad tale. Then ask him why you should have to pay for a pump they gave you that was wrong. They're the pros all you did was put the part on they gave you. Waste enough of his time and he'll give you the pump to get rid of you. And you can also call the 800 number for corporate cutomer service and complain. And after you call them, email corporate customer service too. You might not get any money back but they will spend 3-5 times that amount with the paperwork and phone calls you'll cause.
