Howdy everybody,
I recently bought a parts J20 for $327 that I'm taking the axles and other assorted bits off of. For some reason the rear springs look a little... off. If y'all could put up a picture of what the springs look like, that would be great!

Thanks and Gig 'Em

Look different than what?

'76-up pretty much use the same spring dimensions different weight ratings.

If you're comparing them to earlier springs they will be different depending on year etc.

They are longer than your rear J2000 springs, 52" on the J2000 vs 57" on the J20, but the perch width is the same in the rear even between the J2000 post mounts and the J20 box mounts, so the axle will bolt right in under your existing springs.
You may have to be creative with the e-brake cabling but it shouldn't be that hard.

Something just looks off. Did J20s have helper spring from the factory? In all honesty, the look like springs off of a 90s Chevy 1 ton.

What year J20 you talking about here?
What is the GVWR?

Mine is a 81 and I have an 80 and both look similar just different weights. My 81 is the 8600 and has 3 large springs on it. The 80 is a 7600 and has 4 springs I think(its 50 miles away right now). But they don't have helper springs on them.

Like Tad mentioned, they won't be what you had/have on your J2000.

Sounds like someone did their own version of a lift or something on it. Definitely not stock.

Those are most assuredly NOT stock and were either cobbled together or were pulled from another vehicle to handle the weight of the gooseneck trailer or 5th wheel the PO had. As TAD said the perch width is same same so you can yank that axle, dump the springs, and swap it right under your truck and call it good.

I'm doing to the swap so I can handle more weight. I'm gonna keep those super sized springs and put that goose neck hitch in my truck. Those spings just looked... off when i first saw them.
