like those Indy heads on your 401?
Which set did you pick up?

Elliott, so far I can only say I like the way they look. I haven't ran the engine yet but I'm getting close to that point. I have the Indy SR heads which are the Indy stock head replacements although they aren't a direct swap due to the height of the heads. You have to fabricate a spacer to fill the gap on both ends of the block between the intake manifold and block end rails. That's unless you use the Indy intake manifold which I didn't because it's for racing mainly, doesn't support AC and is too tall to fit under my hood, plus it isn't even close to being smog legal. The Indy heads don't have the exhaust cross-over ports so if you use them you end up running a 'cold' intake due to the elimination of the hot exhaust gases flowing under the plenum. I plumbed exhaust gas into a new fitting in the rear of the intake to allow the egr to function. I bought the complete Indy AMC SR head kit that includes valves, springs, rockers, pushrods and headbolts. Installing the Indy heads is not a plug and play situation by any means and I would recommend to others in the Jeep community to wait for the Edlebrock AMC Performer heads which are supposed to be available in the fall of this year. I have photos available of the installation if you are interested. Wes

Thanks for the info. I'm so deep into chassis work that it'll be awhile before I even know if I'm going to be able to use my current 401. Fall will probably be a good time to see what Edlebrock has going on.
