There has been a huge debate over revolvers pretty much on all the 4x4 boards.

The opinions range from totally awsome to total POS's.

Seems to me that if they caused so many rollovers as reported the company would have been long sued out of business. Most complaints focus on revlovers on ther rear and not so much the front.

Every year Four Wheeler magazine gives the readers a chance to Vote on the top 10 pieces of 4x4 equipment, top manufacturers, and top 4x4 shops.

In the November 2002 issue of Four Wheeler magazine, page 47, you will see that the Teraflex Revolvers won the top ten 4x4 parts and components contest.

For $150 a pair, and what I have seen them do just jacking the FSJ up, I don't see any other modification to the suspension you can do most bang for the buck. And they only take a few minutes to install.

Jury is still out on them with me, but I am getting more encouraged about them.

so it begins....you start great discussions FSJeeper ;p

From what I have seen the only bad thing I have seen on having revolvers up front is when you go up a super steep hill and gas it partiall way up...the front will unload...on our rigs its not such a big deal...on a CJ5 it could lead to desaster. If I ever rann them on the front, I would setup some way to lock them into position while on the street so they dont unload when I pull out into traffic or something.

As for the rear...I dont have any experiance with it. I can see how they would cause problems on the street, but havent seen enough rigs on the trail too make judgement on them.

FSJeeper,
I have been running Revoolvers on my 79' Cherokee for about two years now. My rig is my daily driver and I have not seen one problem with them. They have never unloaded on me in street driving, nor have they given me any other problem. I run them just on the front of my rig and ya, installation only took a solid 20 minutes from start to finish. It raises the front of the Cherokee up about another 1 1/2" - 2" or so. You order Revovlers for an XJ style Cherokee for the rear and then bolt them up to the front of a FSJ. Bolt in istallation with no other mods needed to finish the job.

I've been running them on my 82 cherokee for a month and no problems, and just put them on the rear. My buddy Blt2crl been running them for almost a year I think and he hasn't said one bad thing about them. they're not spring loaded, they just let your axle drop down. I think when rollover come in it's the fact that they don't have the weight of the axle helping them out when going up or down a steep hills. As for going aound corners, you would have to be going pretty fast for them to unload on you. but if you drive normal on the road you won't even know they're on. But that's my opinion on them. I love them.

Ive seen revolvers on several Chevies and Fords running in the area. They are driven every day without any problems. As long as you dont take corners like a bat out of hell, you should be fine.

Ya FSJEEPER, I saw that same article. Stuka I have never had the front unload under hard acceleration. The on street manners are the same as the standard shackle. I have cornered pretty fast (not as fast as IRBOB) :D but have noticed no diff in cornering. I went wheeling today with a suzuki samari that had Revolvers front and rear. I have to say that I thought that the guy had to be nuts to run revolvers front and rear. We went up and down nery vertical ledges and he never unload. After seeing this I am sold I will be running them in the rear. TC did you get you stuff all figured out this weekend?

It doesn't seem to be a big deal to modify a revolver to make it lock into place. How about a small steel plate welded on each side and drilled so you could insert a locking pin when climbing those super steep hills?........phil

hrm...now ya got me considering revolvers ;p

I need about 2" of lift in the front to be level with the back. How much a set of those run? like 150 or so? Has anybody seen them break? I do use my jeep as a daily sorta when its snowing..so I need to make sure they are perfectly fine for street use.

I picked them up for $146 at www.trailquest.com. (http://www.trailquest.com.) I beleive they are the cheapest around. They look pretty strong. they are for the rxj small cherokee rear shackles. blt2crl: nope not yet but getting close. Had problems with the front springs and driveshaft.

Just as an update for those wondering how strong the Revolvers are.....Last night (Saturday) I was going to my girlfriends house and it was raining real good. Along the side of the road there was a puddle about a solid three feet out from the curb that ran down the entire street. Since it was 2:00am in an industrial part of town, I figured I would go play. I had always wondered how well Boggers plain across water. So, at about 35mph, I did a little hydroplaning for a good 50' or so then noticed that all steering was lost :D so i cranked the wheel hard left and mashed the brakes. Still hydroplaning, I jumped the curb :D and ended up head on with a metal light post. Let me tell you that I was airborne when I hit the pole and the front of the jeep was angled up a bit in mid air from hitting the curb. So I basically tagged the pole with the Revolvers dead on with a 5000lb Cherokee, airborne at 35mph :D . Let's just say that the Revolvers are fine and the only damage I did to the Jeep is now there is a piece of 2" long chrome missing from the bumper. smile.gif I love my toyz.

Trailquest quoted me $144 for the shackles and $11.79 for shipping. Not too bad.
