Curious, the shoulder strap on the front seat belts do not lock when I yank on them. Have you guys replaced yours with ones that lock.

My wifes van belts lock easily.

I can see my jaw bone getting tweeked on the steering wheel.

Hoping I could replace them

Any ideas?

They'll lock, pull really fast on it, unless there is a problem with it they should lock up, they have a centrifigul weight thingy in them that locks up when they're pulled out fast enough.

Went out and checked again. The lap belt easily locks when I yank on it. But the shoulder strap doesnt lock at all, no matter how fast I yank on it. It pulls out and only stops when it reaches the end of the belt.

What can I replace it with. Belts are spendy so any suggestions or referals would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

What color are they? I'll check my parts rig and see if they work any better.

I need some front seat belts with the shoulder strap! Ones that the shoulder strap locks. Anyone know where to get these?

Thanks

Actually, the belts are tightened by sudden deceleration of the vehicle, not by centrifigal force. There is a weight in the housing that moves forward and locks the belt when the vehicle slows or stops.

You may the find that the belts on the late 70's and early 80's AMC cars are the same. The ends with the buckle are the same, but not sure about the retractors. May find the cars more plentiful in the "yards."
