I've been a member off and on, and with so many new folks, I thought that getting back into the loop with the "Texas Crowd" might be cool.

Nice to hear from you guys, as to where I've been, I spent the last year or so in Arizona and had cancer surgery, obstruction of the bowel, but they removed it and it had not spread to lymph nodes or other organs.
Wore the "Bag" (what's the worst thing about wearing a colostomy bag?....finding shoes that match...was the local joke). Reversal took place last Feb, so things are getting back to normal.
Anyhow, spent 18 or so years in Austin Tx, and am now in San Antoino.
Most of AZ is public land, just go and drive around, pretty cool.
Looks as if we got at least 20 or so folks in Texas, probably more who haven't posted much.
Maybe I will write something up on the electrical portion of the Tech Articles.
Anyhow, thanks for replying, I have always found that the folks on this board are the kind of folks that take care of and appreciate these old rigs, and each other.

Hey Y'all,
I'm down in Austin as well. Is there any kind of regular get together, sort of a Hill Country Scramble or something, where all you guys get together and spin your tires?
I haven't quite been off road yet with my Cherokee, but am itching to get out there. So Keep me in the loop. Maybe we can all head out to the Hill Country State Natural Area this spring. I hear there's miles and miles of trails out there. Does anyone have any first hand experience at HCSNA?

Geeze,
We all need to get together for a shin-dig, I like to fish, how about this spring or summer we get together on the coast somewhere, maybe Padre Island National Seashore past the 4 mile and have a big ole party?
Not too far for Houston folks, or Corpus folks, even the San Antonio and Austin area crowd is close.
Those in the Dallas/Fort Worth area may have a bit longer of a drive, but could convoy down with the others on I-35 South bound.
I'm a dang good redfisherman, and know of some spots in and around Corpus that are custom made for wade fishing.
If anyone has a big ole seine net, we can have a boil on the beach, I've got some cajun twin burners and the pots etc...
Shrimp, and some crab stuffed jalepanos, maybe a deep fried turkey, Redfish fried in Peanut oil rolled in Stone Ground Corn Meal, we could all have a ball, all spouses, children, dogs, cats, and mean ole uncles invited too.
Sound interesting?

In San Antonio now...Sounds good! Pick a date. I was just talking to a buddy about going to Big Shell. It'd be nice to have someone along that know what they're doing. Bunch of us went to Corpus in June for my bachelor party. Got to fish all day, drink all night at Sharkys.

Got plans for Memorial Day yet?
Enough time for most folks to get there and back.
I know that Yarbourough Pass has great wadefishing, and surf fishing down around Big and Little Shell should be good.
Be a lot of folks down there, though.
PINS is pretty open, just depends on the sargassum, have to wait and see if it is kind to the beach.
I just got my engine installed, and am dialing in the re-wiring and need to go fishing.
I'll throw this date out there to get the ball rolling, maybe it might work for everyone.

Graduated from Waco High when Waco High was downtown and the only place to go to HS in Waco.
Owned homes in China Spring and Highland Village (north of Dalls, south of Denton).
Now live in Young County, you know,.........the North Texas Hill Country, dove hunting capital of the nation, five lakes (good fishing), good hunting...........

Glenn, HCSNA is:
Hill Country State Natural Area is located in Bandera and Medina Counties, 45 miles northwest of San Antonio. The 5369.8-acre site was acquired by gift and purchase in 1976 and was opened to the public in 1984. The bulk of the site was a donation from the Merrick Bar-O-Ranch with the stipulation that it "be kept far removed and untouched by modern civilization, where everything is preserved intact, yet put to a useful purpose."
They have 36 miles of trails, but I just read from the website, its only open to hiking and horseback riding and mountain biking.
Bummer, I still want to get out there camping sometime though.

There's some place out by one of the lakes, Buchanen I think, I've heard about close to Austin. Never been personally. I'm sure someone on here has been. That's all I know of around here. Most of the other spots I've been are North or East Tx, and of course at our place out in Terlingua.

Ralph, I don't know if you your post is good or bad. You like Texans or not?
Wade fishing is nothin' but fun. I am taking the family to South Padre this summer. I am in Houston all the time (I sneak off to Gaveston for a fishing trip when the company isn't looking). I can make it to Corpus anytime too.

Where have you been??? ;) Well,
I guess I've been in Austin for the past 18 years or so.
Was a member of the "list" before it was this list, before the "other guy" got removed!
Haven't posted in a while, just thought that I would poke my head under the covers and see what kind of folks posted here nowadays.
Pretty much the same as before, nice chatting with you...and thanks to all who replied, even the tounge-in-cheek replies (Read as Mile High State folks).
Heck, we probably ran across each other somewhere on the terra firma, glad the list is still going strong.
