What kind of nightmare would I be getting myself into trying to make this swap? I am starting with a stock 360/727/229 combo.

Suggestions?

It's practically a bolt-in if you swap x-cases/transmissions/drive shafts, mounts and front and rear axles smile.gif

I'm not aware of any adapters for a TF727/D20 combo??? Prolly need to swap to a manual trans or a TH400 but the stuff to mate a TH400/D20 is pretty rare. Then since the D20 is a passenger side drop case you need to swap out your drivers side drop front axle assembly and prolly your centered rear axle along with the drive shafts, tranny/x-case mounts etc.

You would have better lock with a D300, sincce its a driver drop...and think Adavnced Adapters makes a adapter for the 727.

No not really...unless you're talking about the D300 that was in '80 Scouts? If so I know nothing about those except they're really rare.
The stock D300 in my CJ is a pass side drop as are the axles :(

well....i havent seen a d300 with a passenger side drop. My 4x4 mags say driver side as well. Gladi8r also had a 83 CJ7 with a 999/D300 combo and it was driver drop.

And come to think fo it..if the 904/999 use the same bolt pattern as a 727, then no adapter is needed. And boom....you have a gear drive t-case that will work with your axle.

SO if I do it I should put the whole drive train in Buick 455 stage 1 Turbo 400 these are already bolted into a 69 wag. Can I find wide trac axles to go with these? What about hubs?

Thanks
