rear defrost

Ok so I hit the switch, the little light comes on but no defrost. Without the engine running, and I hit the switch, I can hear the relay in the tailgate come on and off, so am I looking at maybe a broken wire on the rear window itself??

fix mine back in dec., wire broke at base of window just clean up real good lay the flux to it and sodder

See if you are getting power to the heater. If you are I would say yup, a broken wire.

Scratch that. If you are NOT getting power then it is prolly a broken wire.

Yes it's usually a broken wire on one corner or the other. Use a dremel and lightly grind all the gunk off the get a high watt iron , good solder and flux and put it back on. They get a small ty-rap and secure the wire to the window rail(there is a hole you can attach to) to keep it from straining the soldered connection when the window moves up-down.
